I can’t believe she is 10!

Where has the time gone, my little baby is growing up so fast!  I can’t believe 10 years ago tonight I was sitting in a hospital room looking at my new born baby girl.  It was surreal to say the least, here I was a 25 year old guy and suddenly a Dad, it just didn’t seem possible!  But looking back on it I can easily say it was one of the best days of my life!  And just like last week when I posted about Ella & Chloe turning 5 it was so much fun to look back through all of the pictures we have of Lily over the last 10 years. Here some great pics from over the years……..

We Love you Lily, and we can’t wait to see what the next 10 years will bring!

How are they 5 years old already?!?

It is hard to believe that my little girls turned 5 years old today!  Where has the time gone?  As I sit here writing this entry I am remembering what was happening 5 years ago today.  We went to the hospital as parents of one girl and both Mandy and I thought that we would leave the hospital with 2 boys, but much to our surprise we got these two adorable little girls!  It is amazing how time flies, and as I was looking for the right pictures for this entry I got to go through a lot of our pictures from the past 5 years. There are some great memories and it was so much fun to look at them.  But after going through them all I thought it would be fun to show what difference a year can make!

It has been so much fun watching these two little girls grow, I can’t wait to see what the next 5 years will bring!  I have to say the most amazing part of having these two is though they are identical twins, how different they truly are from each other!  And even though they are very different than each other, the bond they have and love they have for each other is amazing!  I love you Bean & Bear!

Back to School

What a summer it has been, swim meets, camps, bible school, vacations, and lots and lots of swimming at Grandma and Grandpa’s pool.  I think everyone would agree that it was a great summer and we had a ton of fun as a family, but as the saying goes all good things must come to an end.  Last week Lily started 4th grade and this week Ella and Chloe started their second year of preschool.  The one bonus this year for us is that all the girls are at the same school, which makes life much easier for all of us.

Back to school wouldn’t be back to school without pictures!

I think we are all grateful that school has started, we are getting back into our routines which makes life just that much easier.  And maybe, just maybe I will get in a better habit of writing here more often!.

Memorial Day weekend

What a great weekend, even if the weather wasn’t perfect.  I had such a great weekend with my family and who can ask for a better weekend than that!

It started early with Lily giving her 3rd grade presentation.  It was a project that not all of the kids in her class were required to do, it was an elective project, one where the student got to pick a topic and give a speech on it.  Topics ranged from Lego’s to Greek Mythology, and Lily choose her favorite topic, Cats.  So on Thursday night we headed over to school where Lily would give here speech in front of 5 or 6 classmates and their families.  I was very impressed by all of the students and what they choose to present.  Lily did a great job and I was so proud of her.  She was beaming ear to ear afterwards!  Below is a picture of Lily, with her teachers and other students that presented that night.

On Saturday we all worked around the house, inside and out. The girls helped me with some chores outside.  Sunday started out rainy but cleared off enough to allow us to do some work outside and clean out the garage.  During the last couple of weeks we have been talking to Ella and Chloe about when they are big girls and learn to ride their 2 wheel bikes we can ride them to Menchies (frozen yougurt) right by our house.  Well this is all the encouragement Ella needed, and with it sprinkling a little bit she urged me to take her training wheels off her bike….and away she went!  By this morning she had even mastered starting on her own!

And big Thank You, to those who have served this country and given the ultimate sacrifice to ensure we can all enjoy weekends like this!

Looking back on 2014

Yep, I am back writing about my girls!  After not blogging for over a year I have decided I am going to start posting again, how often will I post?  I am not quite sure but it will be more often than what it was last year, wait I didn’t write at last year, so a lot more then last year.  I don’t know why I stopped writing, and posting about the girls, I thought about it a lot, but I do think part of it was that I felt like I was posting the same thing over and over again and that is something I do not want to do.

This past year has had a lots of highs, Lily finishing 2nd in her age group in a kids triathlon, Ella & Chloe both learning how to ride bikes with out training wheels, though this still needs some work, but as with all highs there comes lows, but thankfully none of the lows were really that low.  Though this year have very few lows, I have learned that as Lily grows, she asks harder and harder questions and talking to your child, no matter the age, talking about some life lessons are just flat out hard.  The hardest conversations we have had with Lily during this past year has been about cancer.  One of Lily’s friends at school, has an older sister with terminal cancer, and Lily has gotten to know her a little bit.  Talking with Lily about cancer, what it is, and how it can change a persons life in just seconds is very hard.  It is a lesson that no 3rd grader should have to learn, let a lone try to understand.  As hard as these questions are, I know the questions will only get harder as she grows, but I only hope that she continues to ask Mandy and I these questions as she grows, no matter how hard they are for Mandy and I to answer.

Lily is still doing great in school and loving every minute of it.  Her teacher this year is really challenging her, and pushing her to push herself, which she really likes, but as well as she does in school, here interests outside of school continue to grow.  Lily is still participating in Kids Care Club at school, Girl Scouts, Soccer, triathlons, and on top of this she started swim team, coding club, book club and on occasion chess club at the library.  I look forward to everyday she comes home from school and shares with us what she has learned.  There are times where she is teaching us about the things we learned when we were in 3rd grade.

Ella & Chloe….What can you say about these two.  They keep Mandy and I on our toes, and watching them develop from toddlers to little kids is so much fun.  Chloe continues to be taller than Ella, and depending on the day, Ella loves this role or hates it and it will be the topic of conversation of the day.  What is amazing is that they started preschool this year!  That’s right they are already in school, and are loving it!  They have also started ballet class and this may be the highlight of their week!  They love going to class and participating in dance and are eager to show everyone their dance moves!

Life is good, and we are fortunate to have these 3 great little girls to share our lives with!.

Thanksgiving and first sleep over

There is so much to be thankful for this year, and we were lucky enough to spend it with our Colorado family.  It was a great weekend spent playing inside and outside.  The weather was nice all weekend and on Thursday before Thanksgiving dinner, we took all of the kids to the park, where the kids played and played.  They were having so much fun, it was hard pulling them away to go eat.

On Friday we taught Ella & Chloe taught a couple of new games, Hide & Seek and Duck, Duck, Goose.  As you can see below, Duck, Duck, Goose was quite the hit, but Hide & Seek has had lasting effects, with the girls wanting to play every night after dinner.

On Saturday Morning our Colorado family left to go home, we were sad to see them leave, but Ella & Chloe were very excited for Saturday night.  This was to be their first sleepover at Baba and Bebo’s house.  They talked about it all day, to say they were very excited might be an understatement, so after nap we packed everyone up and dropped off the girls for their first sleepover.  On Sunday I was able to take Mandy to her first NFL game. As many of you know Mandy is not the biggest football fan, and unfortunately we were going to a Vikings game, this season may not be the best time to take her to a Vikings game.

Everyone had a great time at the game and during the sleep over.  Now it is time to get ready for Christmas, and boy are the girls are excited!
